If you've been following Power Word: Gold for any length of time you'll know that I make the majority of my gold these day's by flipping (buying low and re-selling high) 77-79 Cataclysm (77-80 before 5.3) and 83-84 Mists of Pandaria items.

As I've discussed previously (and also recently mentioned by Phat) the new market for selling low level current-expansion items to players stuck in previous expansions while leveling, previously held by level 77-80 Cataclysm items, is likely to now be 83-84 Mists of Pandaria items.

Today's post is my response to a reader who had a problem in their 77-80 Cataclysm Items market with people posting items at prices below their "threshold price" but above their "buying price".

In essence, these sellers were perceived to be selling items in the reader's pricing "blind spot". Head past the jump for our email exchange, possible solutions and thoughts on the importance of constantly analyzing our markets.

Have you been noticing slower than usual auction house sales? Do your cities seem to have less and less people milling around in them? Many of us have felt that Diablo III's release has been affecting the World of Warcraft economy but until I saw the above charts while on my server page at WoWuction.com I didn't have any real proof. Breaking News: Mists of Pandaria zones might have multiple copies per server if there are a high number of players. This has huge implications on the amount of materials that miners, herbalists and skinners will be bringing into the game and may have huge impact on those of us who were planning on farming to make gold at the beginning of Mists of Pandaria

As I have been struggling to sell mogging items on my server, all the while watching other prominent gold-makers raking in (what seems to be) tons of gold selling mogging items, a theory started to slowly develop in the back of my mind.

With Blizzard announcing a new Scroll of Resurrection (SoR) promotion that gives people (nearly) free and instant level 80s there should be a small window of opportunity for us to sell these new level 80s level 77-80 Cataclysm greens. The default gear for the new level 80s is iLevel 232. Cataclysm greens start at iLevel 272 which is a big upgrade.

If the are being played by players like myself the first thing they are going to do is hit the AH and look for Cataclysm greens to replace much of their pre-made gear. Read on past the jump for a few quick tools to help in your search.
