YouTube: Using TSM To Make & Sell Glyphs Pt.1 - How To by Jim Younkin


After reading Faid's How to Compete in Glyphs post over at ClockworkRiot I got fired up to jump back into the glyph market. I decided I wanted to record the experience of setting up my entire glyph creation and selling set up for posterity.

I was lucky enough to have Faid join me to help me for each step along the way. If you've ever wanted a complete soup-to-nuts explanation on how to properly set up a large glyph operation these two video (clocking in at a combined 3 hours) are about as good as it gets.

Again my gratitude to Faid for sharing her considerable glyph selling knowledge and her patience with helping me get it set up. Part 1 is above. Head past the jump for Part 2.

(Quick personal note: April and I were blessed to have a hearty and healthy baby girl come into our lives on Dec 10, 2013. She is our first and, as any parent can tell you, babies take up a lot of time. The results are totally worth the effort but if you notice things slowing down a bit here at Power Word: Gold just know we're busy helping "level up" the cutest level one you've ever seen.)

With 11 new characters (and 22 new professions) to level in the next month I thought I'd go over something I briefly touched on in Episode 77 of the podcast: The most efficient way to level 11 new characters.

In the podcast I mentioned that Recruit-a-Friend was likely going to factor into my strategy. In this post I'm going to explain how I'm planning to use Recuit-a-Friend to level 11 new characters as fast as I can.

We are proud to announce that the The Power Word: Gold Guide Volume I: Addons (formerly The Power Word: Gold Guide) has been updated to version 0.12.

This update includes a completely rewritten section on TradeSkillMaster that covers the recent TradeSkillMaster 2.0 release.

The update (free to previous purchasers) includes all new TradeSkillMaster illustrations and text. It has increased to 137 pages (up from 109) and we have been able to decrease the file size to 4.7MB (down from 7MB+).

We will be rolling out update information emails to all previous purchasers of the guide as time goes on.

Exactly one year ago today we put The Power Word: Gold Guide up for sale.

Asking people for real-world money was a big change for Power Word: Gold. It was first step in an effort to move Power Word: Gold toward profitability.

Over the previous year we have learned a lot by selling the guide. We have learned about selling products online. We have learned about distribution. We have learned about about pricing. We have learned about marketing. We have learned about customer support.

I've started to have some success buying and selling what I've dubbed Mists of Pandaria "Uber" blue items. These are items that were introduced in Mists of Pandaria that require level 80-85 and all have item levels over 400.

These are extremely powerful items and can fetch a premium price. I sell most of these items between 2500g to 6000g.

Due to their rarity one of the best ways I've found to find these items for the price I'm willing to pay (under 300g) is to use TradeSkillMaster Dealfinding Lists. Read on past the jump for TSM-importable lists to help you buy these items as soon as they hit the AH.

We had a request on the livestream to go over setting up TradeSkillMaster groups. Because this question comes up a lot we wanted to record it so that everyone could benefit from it.

Every once in a while you run across something so awesome that you just have to share it. I came across this illustrated guide to the Tiller faction reputation on the /r/wow subreddit and had to share it.

Seems I wasn't the only one who enjoyed it. It was by far the most retweeted tweet we've ever put out. So that this knowledge (and awesome artwork) aren't lost I thought I would be sure to post it here so that myself and others can always have it handy.

The illustration was made by "Nessa" for the redditor Zephyrion who stated when posting it "Told my friend I didn't understand the Tillers. A couple hours later she sent me this.". Head past the jump for the full illustrated guide.

I just wanted to make a quick note here to point people who may be interested in selling transmogrification gear to a post I just complied on The Hatchery.

Like many of you I've been bitten by the mogging bug and have been making good use of Keelhauls Plate, Mail  and Cloth mogging lists. Unfortunately that left us fumbling around to figure out what to do with Leather. Keelhaul has stated he doesn't even touch leather at all.

That left it up to us to figure Leather out for ourselves. I decided it was time I looked more into the possibilities of selling Leather mogging items. What follows after the jump is my initial research into what Leather items may sell and whether Keelhaul was correct in simply skipping them.
