While it doesn't end until January 2nd, today is a big day in the Feast of Winter Veil. Today is the day we get finally get to open our presents! Many players will be hitting up Father Winter to get presents and do his quests. One quest requires 5 Small Eggs to make 5 Gingerbread Cookies.

Preliminary Caged Battle Pet Pricing Data


In my continuing effort to understand and assess the feasibility of working in the cross-realm battle pet sales market I've been doing some data collection and analysis. I thought I'd share some of that research with all of you today.

As many of you may know there currently isn't any way to look up caged battle pet pricing on auction house data sites like The Undermine Journal and WoWuction. Researching Cross-Realm Battle Pet Arbitrage



In this day's episode we work on researching and recording pricing for cross-realm battle pet arbitrage across 4 different servers. We also answer lots of questions and even check out a fairly crazy MMO gaming mouse.

We really live finding these fiddly types of markets. It remains to be seen whether the amount of work involved in selling battle pets cross-realm is worth it but I love digging in to find out.

Pet Spy Set Up - Dec 13, 2012 Livestream



In this episode we not only go over our normal routine (83-84, etc.) but also start to set up a spy army of level 1 Starter Edition characters on our various servers. We did this in order to easily be able to track pricing and supply of battle pets in order to look for battle pet sales/arbitrage opportunities.

If you are like me and farm dungeons you probably realized that even if you run into a dungeon with some fancy Netherweave Bags, or Embersilk bags, that it is inevitable that you are going to run out of bag space sooner or later, fly back or hearthstone back to a vendor to sell all your junk items, put stuff in your bank. So on and so forth.

So the story begins with me. At the time I was a lvl 88 protection pally needing to get some Netherweave.

Auctionator Shopping List For Battle Pets



We've been working on the process of analyzing the possibility of buying pets on one server and selling them on another. In the process we've done a few things to prepare including creating a Starter Edition account and building level 1's on all the servers we are planning to try this on.

One of the things we realized was that we needed a quick way to be able to asses the battle pet markets on these servers as well as track the prices across servers to look for opportunities to buy and sell battle pets across server profitably.

While we won't go into all of the work we did to try to solve this problem we are going to share the Auctionator Shopping List that we built off of Kaexo's list that he provided in the post "Buy Battle Pets On One Server, Sell On Another". Head past the jump for the Auctionator-importable list.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the moderators of /r/wow have asked Faid, PhatLewtsGold and myself to answer gold-making questions in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) in the /r/wow subreddit tonight at 6PM EDT (UTC - 4 hours). That is roughly 3 hours from the time of this post.

Read the announcement post to find out more about it, keep your eyes open for the AMA post at 6pm in /r/wow and come ask all of your own gold-making questions. I'm not sure how long we will answer questions but if I know the others it will likely be a decent amount of time.

Using A Personal Guild Bank For Storage? - Reader Question



Today's question comes from Ed who wants to know about what's involved in using a guild for storage purposes.

Recently I've been buying up some cheap (<20g) 83-84 greens for when that market becomes viable (for certain plate items it's happening already).  All of these items were dumped onto my bank alt - and inevitably he no longer has room for anything in his bags or bank.  I am thinking about starting a guild just for the bank space, but am not sure what is involved and what the pitfalls are.  I guess it's worth it, seeing as every gold blogger seems to take it for granted that everyone has a guild bank.  Here are a few issues I'm hazy on and would like your input in.

How To Find, Backup And Restore Your TradeSkillMaster Settings



No one likes to lose all their hard work due to addons going haywire or other unfortunate events. We've been getting a lot of reports from reader and livestream viewers of TradeSkillMaster losing/destroying their carefully built TSM settings, groups, etc.

This video explains how to find your TradeSkillMaster setting files as well as how to backup and restore them if needed. The information on where to find these files was taken from the FAQ over at TradeSkillMaster.com.

While we all know we should backup our data, we often procrastinate. I've been trying to make a habit of using the TSM Application to backup my TSM files before I launch the Curse Client to update my addons.

Every once in a while you run across something so awesome that you just have to share it. I came across this illustrated guide to the Tiller faction reputation on the /r/wow subreddit and had to share it.

Seems I wasn't the only one who enjoyed it. It was by far the most retweeted tweet we've ever put out. So that this knowledge (and awesome artwork) aren't lost I thought I would be sure to post it here so that myself and others can always have it handy.

How To Eat An Elephant



I'll bet many players (myself included) are feeling just a bit overwhelmed since the launch of Mists of Pandaria. Whereas in Cataclysm I felt like a master of the universe, in Mists I'm feeling like quite the noob.

Why is this? For one thing I think Blizzard packed much more content into this expansion than any of us were expecting. On top of that, we have all these characters and professions to level. All these new areas to explore. All of these new gold-making techniques to work out.

Theramore's Fall Scenario (Horde) Gameplay Video



Still waiting in a scenario queue? Here is my second run of the new Theramore scenario, this time on my Blood Elf Protection Paladin. This video shows the scenario from the Horde perspective.

The Horde version seemed a bit more likely to experience lard packs swarming the groups. Our shaman dies in this video after pulling too much. After having read "Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War" book this scenario, like the Alliance version, leaves something to be desired and seems to end rather abruptly.

All in all it was interesting yet felt somewhat lackluster after reading the wonderful "Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War" book.

Theramore Scenario Requires i353 - Sell Vicious Items Today



The Theramore scenario hits live realms today (already live in EU) and the scenario requires item level 353 to queue.

With sweet iLevel 384 heads and weapons being handed out like candy, I'm making sure that I'm crafting and/or flipping cheap iLevel 377 Vicious Embersilk and Vicious Fireweave PVP items. These are often items used by people looking to boost the item level of their characters in order to get into higher dungeons (and now scenarios).

If you have a Tailor you might look into this market and see if there are gaps and/or cheap (30-60g) items that can be flipped for a better price today. If you have a Jewelcrafter, Leatherworker or Blacksmith you might also look into the Vicious Jewelry, Leather, Mail and Plate items as well.

Here are the Auctionator searches I'm using to look for these items:

 Vicious Emb
Vicious Fire

I'm selling most items for 650g each with the exception of wrists and belts which I sell for 450g.

Will they all sell? We'll see. If not I can always disenchant them for Heavenly Shards.


(Secret Bonus Tip: Hunter's will be getting new i384 guns today. Be sure to stock the AH with Flintlock Woodchuckers.)

AOE Looting's Effect On The Cloth Markets


After doing a Black Rock Depths run on my 85 I ended up with Runecloth. A lot of Runecloth. Indeed the AOE looting system that was introduced in Patch 5.0.4 has made running old instances much quicker. If you don't have to bend down to loot every mob you can simply round up a whole bunch of groups, AOE them down and click once to loot them all.

That wasn't what caught my attention. What caught my attention was the prices for Runecloth on my server which seemed far lower than I remembered. Read on past the jump for a bit of analysis on how AOE looting is changing the face of the cloth markets as we know them.

Robes of Insight Now Being Duplicated?



I've had a sneaking suspicion lately that with all the illicit BOE mount duping that's likely been going on on the servers lately (you've all heard the level 1's in trade chat trying to sell Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger for 15k) that it would only be a matter of time before the dupers moved onto other high-value items as targets for their market-ruining duping (duplicating items by illicit means such as hacks, bugs. etc.).

Blackfallow Ink Still Tradeable in 5.0.4


As noted by Blizzard, the 5.0.4 ink traders appear to require Ink of Dreams as payment in the purchase window when in actuality you can still purchase inks with Blackfallow Ink.

While not totally unexpected this change took a few of us by surprise. In all of our own advice/reporting about the potential change we noted the ink trade lockout was only a possibility.

While this change may make any ink we may have stockpiled a bit less valuable, from all the reports I'm hearing most glyph sellers are making a lot of gold right now so that should help ease the pain.

That said, the UI still visually shows ink trades requiring Ink of Dreams so unless someone tries it themselves or reads Blizzard posts there may be some people who don't know Blackfallow Ink can still be traded in.

Buying Multiple Vendor Items At Once


Today's tip is one that might come in handy if you're buying a lot of ink to stockpile before the 5.0.4 patch on August 28, 2012.

To buy multiple vendor items at one time hold the Shift key while right or left clicking an item in a vendor window. A small dialog will come up and allow you to enter how many items (up to the max stack size) you would like to purchase.

If you're buying large quantities of vendor items you might also try the addon BuyEmAll which allows you to enter a purchase amount over the max stack size. Below is a screenshot of BuyEmAll in action.

My Mists of Pandaria Stockpile? Not Much.



By far the most popular question I've been asked in the last two weeks has been "What should I stockpile for Mists of Pandaria?". Each time I feel that I must disappoint the questioner when I give my answer.

It's not that I haven't given it a lot of thought it's just that I'm not really much of a stockpiler. Never have been. Likely never will be.

Strong Evidence of Rampant Item Duplication in WoW


We've heard plenty of circumstantial evidence of rampant "duping" (duplication) of items in recent months. We've heard accounts of cheap Reins of the Crimson Death Charger, Queen's Garnets and Sands of Time from readers, livestream viewers and other bloggers.

Testing Battle Pet Cageability and Quality In MoP Beta



There has been much speculation around what would happen to our current pets when it comes to the Pet Battles system being introduced in Mists of Pandaria.

We've seen a blue post indicating that some pets may become "Rare" when caged. Some have done analysis on where these pets come from.

To set the record straight (at least as far as the current beta build is concerned) I wanted to test caging all my pets on the current Beta client (Beta Client: 5.0.4 (15929) Jul 31, 2012) and see what happened. Head past the jump for my (rather interesting) results.

Official: Sep 25, 2012 Mists of Pandaria Launch Date


It’s official: Mists of Pandaria is launching Sep 25, 2012. (Learn more about the launch, pre-sale,  "Digital Deluxe Edition" and more in this Blizzard blog post.)

Looks like I was a bit overly pessimistic in my guess of November as the launch date. Now we all get to do mental gymnastics to figure out how the launch will fit into our lives in September.

(It is interesting to note that September is very early in the year compared to the previous two expansion's release dates.)

How do you feel about the timing of the September 25 release date? Too soon? Not soon enough? (I especially want to hear your conspiracy theories!)

Captured Pets Not Tradeable in Mists



Tailswish alerted me to a blue post link over at MMO Champion that states that all pets captured as part of the Pet Battle system will not be able to be caged, traded or sold. This may have large implications for gold-making surrounding pets and pet battles in Mists of Pandaria.
