Introducing Croda's Free Inscription Gold Guide
Today I have launched Croda’s Inscription Gold Guide. It is free and it can be found at my blog marketsforgold.
This guide represents my experiences with the inscription profession that took me to over 1 million gold. It is an aggregation of the posts on my blog marketsforgold and very little, if anything, is in addition to those posts (actually the blog posts are a disaggregation of this guide).
Scribes Unite
The guide is primarily aimed at Scribes who are at least starting their daily Research. It is not a levelling guide - it is a guide that reflects my strategies, processes, experiences and observations in taking me to over 1 million gold via Inscription.
The hope is that not only my strategies, processes, experiences and observations will help the readers but also the thinking behind them. Whilst every server is difference perhaps the thought process can be consistent.
The Guide
The guide undertakes a brief analysis of the inscription market and looks at what made it the gold mine it became in the autumn of 2010 (demand rose, supply got choked off from every angle including the bots getting wiped out).
The guide goes into how I operate in the market proper from pricing my items to the routine I follow to posting and I how operate under difference competitive environments. The guide then wraps up with various tips to scribes.
I suspect that the gold blogging community here will already know 90% of this but perhaps it is of interest on how it is all put together to generate the success on my server. I would assume though that to the non-gold blogger much will be of interest.
The Future
I intend to add sections on Advanced Trading Strategies (or rather how to deal with them when others deploy then), efficient use of TradeSkillMaster, Basic Economics in the Inscription market and the Information Advantage as well as continue to add to the General Tips for Scribes. The Guide makes clear that the Inscription market is one that needs constant focus and attention. It is not a passive earner.
I also want to flesh out the non-glyph side which for me is a very steady (though low) gold earner but not one to be ignored and operates independently of the glyph market.
The Market
The main driver of the glyph market is the number of characters levelling and on my server. With a medium population it remains healthy as alts continue to come through. I suspect we will see players return for the next patch and the next expansion. All good news for the aspiring scribes out there.
And of course I can’t end this without acknowledging flux and Power Word: Gold in all this. Originally this guide was written to be part of The Power Word: Gold Guide Free and indeed I had handed over this guide (and full rights) to flux. It was upon reflection however that realized I would like to see what this "blogging world" was all about. I asked flux if I could use the Guide in my blog and to my pleasant surprise flux handed the Guide (and full rights) back to me. Truly I have to take my hat off to flux.
Community Service
Finally it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the gold blogging community. I would be unable to argue that my route to 1 million gold from Inscription came all from my ideas. I almost certainly picked up ideas, strategies and processes from the community at large. Now too distant, deep and altered in my mind to reference directly but a reference to the community at large though is more than warranted.
-Croda
I special thanks to Croda for writing his new guide. I have a lot to learn about the Inscription market and this 10,000+ word guide will give me plenty to chew on. Here's a link to the guide again: Croda’s Inscription Gold Guide.
