Capitalizing On The Post-Ban "Bump" (Now's The Time)

To paraphase some old guy "I felt a great disturbance in the [economy], as if millions of [exploiters] suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something [wonderful] has happened."

The Ban
Yes indeed something wonderful happened this last patch day. According to many reports (and from the circumstantial evidence of the current raw gem prices on my server) many botters were likely banned.

Like the cockroaches they are, they will be back. They always come back. But while they are retooling, us auctioneers have a chance to take advantage of the shortage of cheap materials and make some sales.

I've seen a definite 'bump'.
Do this!
Once the bots come back into the economy prices are apt to plummet again. My suggestion is that if you are tooled up for 'The Obsidium Shuffle', head to the Auction House as soon as possible and check pricing.

If gem prices seem high then start shuffling and get some gems up. Don't go over-board. Just shuffle enough stacks to get a decent amount of raw green-quality gems up.

While I know the gem market well enough to know the prices are higher if you know the inscription, alchemy or enchanting market well those may be up as well.

Signs of bots returning are already showing up.


There is no telling how long this 'post-ban bump' will last. If there is one thing I know is that you need to make gold while the gold-making is good.

Now may be that time. Don't delay. Papa flux says go! What are you still doing here reading? Go! :D

  1. I've been having a hell of a time with bots on my server. The gem market is tanking hard - and has been for awhile now. I'm not exactly sure what I should do. The ore is extremely cheap right now, but it's becoming harder and harder to make sells.

  2. @David I think in your case your best best is to move on for now. Leave the market the bots are crashing alone for a while. I'd check in on the market each day to see if it's rebounded or not. There is a chance it will come back.

    These things tend to have slow ebbs and flows. My advice would be to start getting creative in your gold making efforts. Poke and prod and see if you can find a niche that isn't being served.

    Trends and certain tactics come and go. Being able to adjust is a skill we all need. Taking some time to level up a few alt's professions is worthwhile. Eventually you'd like to have all of them yourself so you can adjust when needed. Most of all, keep at it.

    Also take some time and write up GM tickets and report players who put inhuman amounts of mats on the AH for way too cheap prices. Report that you suspect they are botters. A little effort now could result in bans which would breath some new life into your economy.
