Addon Essentials: iSold


Sometimes it's the small things that make you the most happy. Such is the case with an addon called iSold. I've been using it for over a year now and it never fails to being a smile to my face.

What Does It Do?

iSold does one simple thing. It plays a classic cash register "cha-ching" sound effect whenever you get a item sale notice in your chat box.

No matter how many times I've heard this effect and check to see what has sold it never gets old.

Why Should I Download It?

Besides the small dopamine release of getting a sale it can also help you know when you've made a sale so you can immediately restock the sold item.

In this impromptu livestream Erogroth and I go over his Calculating Enchanting Material Costs & The Enchantment Shuffle as well as look at the raw spreadsheet data that can be dowloaded from Wowuction.com (under Resources>Data Export>Data Export for Manual Use). Notededededed!!! This is what happens when livestream viewers introduce Jim to "Speech Jamming" where your own voice is played back into your ears at a slight delay which totally messes up your ability to speak. The iPhone app I used was called "Speech Zapper" (iTunes Affiliate Link).

I set it to 150 ms delay (down from the default of 250 ms) and turned on "Volume Boost" and turned the volume up. WARNING: The volume will be VERY loud. DON'T DAMAGE YOUR HEARING! You need it loud enough to almost totally drown out your own words.

"Virtual Realms" Combine Auction Houses in 5.4


This is (virtual) insanity. In 5.4 Blizzard may be "fusing" servers together. These "virtual realms" will combine all aspects of the realms together including the Auction House.

Say bye bye to low population server economies. I can't tell yet if this is a good thing or a bad thing. What would it be like if every economy ran like a high population realm's economy?

Has it finally come to this that World of Warcraft has so many low-population servers that is finally has to start merging....I mean "fusing" them together just so players can feel like their playing an actual MMORPG? You know, a Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing game?

(Also, it seems like Blizzard announcing this right after offering 50% off Paid Character Services is kinda a sketchy move.)

New Feature: Virtual Realms 
  • Virtual Realms are sets of realms that are fused together, and will behave exactly as if they were one cohesive realm. Players on the same Virtual Realm will be able to join guilds, access a single Auction House, join arena teams and raids, as well run dungeons or group up to complete quests.
  • Players belonging to the same Virtual Realm will have a (#) symbol next to their name.

87-88 MoP Item Sales Analysis & Adjustment



Once I've been working a new market for a while I like to stop and take stock of what's selling and what's not so I can adjust accordingly.

I did this for the "85-89" Mists of Pandaria market that I started preparing for before 5.3 and have since been selling in since Patch 5.3 dropped.

In analyzing this market I came to some conclusions and interesting discoveries that allowed me to adjust my tactics. Head past the jump for more.

Play Free For 7 Days (Of Gold-Making Goodness!!)



I received the following email from Blizzard for a few of my expired accounts. Last time they sent out an email like this I am fairly sure I saw a decent spike in my 77-80 and 83-84 item sales. If you sell 77-80 Cataclysm, 83-84, 87-88 MoP and Crafted Dreadful PVP items be sure to have yours up on the auction house. (See also The Big List Of 77-79 & 83-84 Item Flipping Information)

Players who take Blizzard up on its offer and play the game free for 7 days will likely want to take as much advantage of the "reduced XP needed from level 85 to 90" as they can. That often means buying some items from the auction house.

Back in July of 2011 I hit my 250K gold milestone. At the time the place everyone wanted their milestones posted was Warcraft Econ. Warcraft Econ was a blog about gold-making that also allowed people to submit gold-making milestone posts.
